Eastbourne Down’s Syndrome
Welcome to T21 Friends
We are a group of families who are lucky enough to have amazing young children – all of us have a child who has Down’s Syndrome (Trisomy 21).
We run a group where the children can play and the parents can get valuable emotional support and advice from each other, sharing our ideas and experiences.
We welcome all families expecting, or with, a child with Down’s Syndrome in Eastbourne and the surrounding areas.
What we offer
We offer regular speech and language, and physiotherapy sessions to our children. These are much needed to supplement the limited NHS provision.
Bonding and friendships between our children is important, and ad-hoc group events support these.
Social Meet Ups
We have regular social meet-ups. These include bi-monthly family get togethers, ad-hoc meet-ups, and evening events just for parents.
We rely solely on donations to support our work, and hold fundraising events. These are often social occasions, engaging the wider community.
An active, parents only, facebook group provides a safe space for families to celebrate their children’s achievements, ask questions and provide support.
We work to increase awareness of Down’s Syndrome in the local area, and particularly with those that provide services for our children.
Are you expecting, or have a child with Down’s Syndrome?
If you live in Eastbourne and the surrounding area, and have been given a high-chance diagnosis in pregnancy, or have a baby or young child with Down’s Syndrome, you’re welcome to join our group, or just get in touch for a chat about our experiences of having a child with Down’s Syndrome.
